One more input before you buy the invoice

You advance cash against a carrier’s receivables. The federal file documents the carrier’s business operations: years in operation, the insurance filing pattern, government actions — cited, dated, one pull per carrier. It does not evaluate any individual’s creditworthiness or an invoice’s collectability.

What the file shows you

  • Registration facts — years since the USDOT was issued, operation type, fleet and driver counts as filed, and when the carrier last updated its own filing.
  • The insurance pattern over time — repeated gaps and frequent insurer changes are two of the measured warning signs, each shown with the filings behind it.
  • Government actions — revocations, suspensions with FMCSA's stated reason, out-of-service orders — the events that end a carrier's ability to earn.
  • Links to previously revoked carriers — FMCSA's own prior-revocation flag, and shared addresses with recently revoked registrations.

How it fits your day

  1. Check. Pull the file on the carrier behind the invoice as part of the approval.
  2. Monitor. Track the carriers in your portfolio. A revoked or suspended authority, or insurance cancelled with nothing to replace it, emails you the day it appears in the federal files.
  3. Prove. When a debtor disputes or a carrier fails, the Dated Verification Record shows what the federal record said on the days you were exposed.

What the record covers — and what it doesn't

The record is a facts-only PDF of what the federal sources showed while the carrier was under watch — registration, authority, insurance filings, government actions, safety data — with the source and date on every line and the log of each daily check. A record shows both the date of what it describes and the date it was generated, carries a reference number and a tamper-evident hash, and can be checked by anyone you hand it to at carrierarchive.com/verify. It covers only the days the carrier was under watch: a check that never ran cannot be written up afterwards, which is exactly why the watch is worth setting up before the load moves.

The number behind the patterns

The patterns on a file are documented record facts, not opinions, and the composite of them was measured before it was shown to anyone: in a preregistered, single-shot test on 166,237 eligible held-out carriers, 22.4% of carriers flagged by the composite had an involuntary revocation of operating authority recorded within the observation window (95% CI 21.2–23.7%) versus 11.0% of the full eligible cohort — at least 1.6x by point estimate. Address matches were excluded from that test. The outcome measured was revocation, not crashes, fraud, unpaid invoices or business closure. How it was measured, in plain English, is on the methodology page.

Questions factoring companies ask

Is this a credit score?

No. Nothing here predicts whether an invoice gets paid or evaluates any individual's creditworthiness. The file shows a carrier's federal registration, insurance-filing and safety records and flags documented patterns in them. It informs your view of the carrier's operations; it is not a credit decision and not a replacement for your own underwriting.

Can we pull files for a whole portfolio at once?

Lookups are one carrier at a time today, and tracking covers as many carriers as your plan allows. A bulk and API surface is on the roadmap; if you have a portfolio to run, tell us how you work and we will build toward it.

Why do you show a rate instead of a score?

Because the rate was measured and a score would be invented. The one number we publish is the measured rate at which carriers flagged by our composite lost operating authority in a preregistered test run once, with its confidence interval, on the methodology page. Individual patterns are shown as documented facts, not scored.

Carrier Archive is an independent, privately operated service and is not affiliated with FMCSA or any government agency. Every fact on a carrier file is cited to its federal source and date; indicators describe documented record patterns and are not accusations about any carrier. The decision to use a carrier is yours; we do not select or recommend carriers. Nothing on this page is legal advice. Federal files checked daily.
